Economics Subject (318) in NIOS Senior Secondary 12th

Economics is a science that deals with the production, distribution, exchange and consumption of various goods and services within a particular country. Economics is at the heart of many issues and problems facing the world today, from poverty and unemployment to inflation, the challenge of sustaining economic growth and the interplay of government, business and financial institutions. Because of these important aspects Economics plays a very crucial role in the education structure of NIOS Board in SS Coaching.

Career planning is one of the most crucial factors in your life, which needs no emphasis. When should you begin the career planning? The age that could be considered appropriate for making a start is the age of 15-18 years when you enter the Ninth Class under the 10 + 2 form of education. This is the decisive age to shape your option in career. It is after the 10 + 2 level that a wide variety of course options are available to choose from including one with Economics. This means that as the first step you will have to choose from the three branches of education viz., science, arts and commerce and the appropriate combination of subjects which includes economics as one of them. To a great extent, this choice would determine the course options available to you after the 10 + 2 level when the student moves to college education. For example, if you want to take up Chartered Accountant degree course, you should not only join the commerce stream but should also opt for the combination comprising economics, accountancy and Mathematics.

Before you enter the 10 + 2 stage, you may like to consider which syllabus provides wider options. There are four government Boards the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE), the State Boards and National Open Schooling (NIOS) each having its own syllabus. While the CBSE and ICSE syllabuses permit combining biology and mathematics, not all the State Boards provide similar opportunity. But with NIOS students have great flexibility to opt subjects and to study on their own terms as there is no need to join regular schooling for further education. For example, the Andhra Pradesh Board for Intermediate Education (equivalent to Higher Secondary Board) does not. It limits your option, because at this stage itself you will have to decide whether you want to join the engineering college or medical and agricultural colleges. However, as the number of CBSE affiliated schools in the region is small, you may have to opt for the State Board syllabus or go for NIOS which provides great flexibility for students.

In N.I.O.S student can study according to your own pace and convenience. You can even study both the secondary (Class 10) and higher secondary (10 + 2) courses through the open schooling mode. the stark reality is that it is becoming increasingly difficult for many middle class families to meet the spiraling cost of professional education so they opt for open form schooling of education through NIOS .
