Mathematics is as old as civilisation itself and is one of the most fascinating branches of human education system. It encompasses many topics of study and as such it is difficult to define the term “mathematics” which comes from a Greek word meaning “inclined to learn”. It defined as the scientific study of quantities, including their relationships, operations and measurements expressed by numbers and symbols. In simple words, mathematics deals with study of numbers and their various calculations. The most important skills in mathematics are careful analysis and reasoning, and thus logic is the floor on which the structure of mathematics is built.

Even if a student failed in passing from Board Exams, it is still not the end of education. You can relax and not worry that your year will be wasted as National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) brings you a great opportunity to take a second attempt every October. The month of October is also chosen because all other boards declare results in may-june every year. So the students who do not do well or have failed in the board exam attempt have NIOS which conducts a public examination to give unsuccessful students of all recognized boards in India one more chance to move ahead with their further studies in graduation and post graduation level.

Students appearing for the exam will be required to write three additional exams apart from the subject they got failed in. While the marks of other two subjects obtained in the failed student’s  board exam will be transferred for students registered under the Transfer of Credit scheme , the condition is that these two subjects should fall under the NIOS’s Education scheme.
